Mecenat develops the next generation membership system for Swedish student organisations

Mecenat has for some time developed Mecenat UniCore, a membership system for student organisations. Recently, the 20th student union took the system into operation. UniCore has a clear focus on both their membership administration and the students’ membership benefits It also means great financial savings for the organisations.

For decades, membership systems have been a major expense for Sweden’s student organisations. Often, they have been built for associations with a completely different focus and functionality than the student organisations primarily demand. Therefore, Mecenat took the decision to develop a tailor-made membership system together with a few student organisations that can be implemented at no cost. The only fee in the system is the external module used for secure payments of membership fees.

-UniCore is developed in close collaboration with Sweden’s leading experts in membership systems for students, the student organisations. It supports the student from registration at the university to union membership, student ID and access to thousands of discounts. UniCore also simplifies student organisations membership recruitment and are strengthening them as the students’ representatives at the university, says Jonas Levin, CEO at Mecenat AB.

It is, of course, also developed to be an effective tool for the internal membership administration of the organisations, for example register, keeping and accounting of statistics.

Changing member systems is a major decision that requires preparation but in a short time student organisations’ representing about 80,000 students have joined. The goal is to double this figure to 160,000 during next school year.
