Mecenat moves home after nineteen years
Mecenats headquarters was located at Kungstorget in central Gothenburg for nearly two decades. The company has grown out of its old premises and moved to the newly produced office building Blenda in the tech dominated area Lindholmen Science park in Hisingen, Gothenburg.
Nineteen years ago, CEO Jonas Levin and Mecenat, consisting of seven people, moved into a part of the office at Kungstorget. As Mecenat grew, in both revenue and employees, the need for more space increased and recently about 40 Mecenat employees moved in at the new Lindholmen office.
– This is a natural step for Mecenat. Throughout the years we have gone from delivering student discounts with a plastic card to taking the lead in the development with a clear tech focus. This is to match the students requests for accessibility and new functionality. The fact that we now have moved to a new office building in the heart of Gothenburg's innovation center is on line with Mecenats way forward. Here we all have the opportunity to keep growing and develop the company, says Jonas Levin, CEO at Mecenat AB.
Mecenat neighbours with both highly esteemed Chalmers University of Technology. A lot of their courses are held at Campus Lindholmen and several high schools with tech-based programs that all contribute to Lindholmens identity as an innovative tech-area. Lindholmen Science Park was created to work as an international co-op environment and many of Sweden's most prominent companies in tech, IT, automotive industri, media and design resides here. This means that Mecenat moves into an area with a lot of similarly minded companies and the opportunities for networking in the area are big.
There are also plans for a start-up area in the office. The intention is that Mecenat will support students with newly started businesses by offering a workplace in their office.
This is a natural step in Mecenat’s expansion. In 2016 a second office was opened in central Stockholm. The Stockholm office is mainly for sales staff that works full time in Stockholm, but also to meet the needs of headquarters staff visiting the capital.
