Major interest in Mecenat’s student discounts
In the last academic year there were 11 million visits to mecenat.se to buy products and services with a student discount. Add to this all the millions of times the card was used for travel bookings and in shops to claim a student discount and the result is significant volumes. A conservative estimate produces net sales of SEK 1.3 billion in products and services with a student discount claimed via the Mecenat card.
"Although the total number of students has remained relatively constant in recent years, interest in student discounts has risen steadily. There's been a positive spiral in which more and more companies are discovering the advantages of offering a student discount, the range available is increasing and more and more students take advantage of them. In the last academic year, the average order value of products and services that we provided at mecenat.se was about SEK 1,200. With the volume and brand awareness that we have among students, this makes us an attractive channel that more and more companies are discovering," says Jonas Levin, CEO at Mecenat AB.
The volume in terms of the number of partners consists primarily of small and medium-sized businesses, but in terms of products with student discounts the major brands contribute a significant proportion. Partnerships added recently include H&M, Nike, Viking Line and Smarteys.
